Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-8173 is to be contained in a Standard Humanoid Anomaly Chamber (Specifications: 5m×5m×3m) at Site-19. Walls must be lined with lead shielding to block electromagnetic signals.
Only personnel with Level 3 clearance equipped with optical obscurement helmets are permitted entry. Exposure duration shall not exceed 10 minutes per session.
In case of containment breach, Protocol "Blindfold" is to be initiated immediately: Deploy aerosolized amnestic MNEST-9 within affected areas.

Description:
SCP-8173 is a 1.2m×0.8m abstract oil painting framed with stained Sequoia sempervirens wood. Carbon dating indicates the frame originated from the mid-19th century.

Upon visual contact exceeding 3 seconds between a human subject (designated SCP-8173-1) and SCP-8173, the following anomalous progression occurs:

Timeframe	Symptoms
0-1 hour	Reports of "non-Euclidean geometric phantoms" in peripheral vision.
1-12 hours	Compulsive replication of brushstroke patterns (see Experiment Log 8173-γ).
12-17 hours	Progressive skeletal muscle calcification (rate: 2cm³/minute).
17-19 hours	Self-mutilation focused on ocular enucleation.

Addendum 8173-1:
On 2023/██/██, microscopic replicas of SCP-8173 (resolution: 12,000 SPI¹) were observed proliferating on the retinal surface of SCP-8173-1 instances. Direct visual exposure to these replicas for ≥1 second will transfer SCP-8173-1 status to the observer (Refer to Incident Report 8173-Δ).

Addendum 8173-2: Biomathematical Anomalies Report
